Job summary

University of British Columbia (UBC) seeks a Research Assistant/Technician 2 in the Chan Laboratory, Division of General Internal Medicine, to support ongoing projects with data entry, documentation, and participant coordination. The role reports to the Research Coordinator and operates under general supervision after training.

Responsibilities include data verification, handling communications with participants, preparing study materials, and tracking equipment and supplies.

Qualifications

  • Requires high school graduation with related training and 2+ years of related experience.
  • Post-secondary diploma in health or life sciences preferred.
  • Familiarity with REDCap or similar data collection platforms is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Enter and verify study data into databases (e.g., Excel, REDCap) and perform routine accuracy checks.
  • Screen study forms and participant information for errors or missing items; flag issues for follow-up.
  • Send participant reminders and communications (text or email) per protocol; maintain logs of communications.
  • Prepare, format, and assemble basic study documents (consent forms, logs, CRFs).
  • Label, organize, and file study documents per protocol and ethics requirements.
  • Maintain and track research equipment; manage loans with check-in/check-out records.
