Reporting to the Manager of Children’s Intensive Service (CIS), and under the direction of the Team Leader, the doctoral level Clinical Psychologist is a member of the interdisciplinary team that provides holistic and comprehensive care to meet the needs of families and their children aged 6-12 years with severe disruptive behavior. The doctoral Clinical Psychologist is responsible for the planning and provision of treatment for these families and children. Responsibilities include evidence-based mental health treatment (family and individual), staff supervision, psychological assessments, consultation with other staff members and community service providers, program development and evaluation. The doctoral Clinical Psychologist is involved in all aspects of the care continuum from pre-assessment through to discharge/follow-up and will also provide individual and family evidence-based treatments.
The IWK Health Predoctoral Residency Program in Pediatric and Child Adolescent Psychology is both APA and CPA approved. All Psychologists at the IWK are expected to actively participate in training residents. Clinical services are provided to families in their homes or other community locations whenever possible which will require travel for such visits. In necessary situations there will be an inpatient component to care.
Monday – Friday: 7.5 hour days, some evening hours may be required. Travel inside and outside of HRM will be required.
