Join our Professional Practice team as a Clinical Practice Leader and provide leadership in clinical and professional practice, education and research. Work collaboratively with other Clinical Practice Leaders to deliver innovative and compassionate healthcare in our community.

The Clinical Practice Leader is at the forefront as they optimize the use of real time data, predictive analytics and professional expertise to continuously improve quality and safety in the area of patient care delivery. Through their ability to lead, consult and advise health professionals in accordance with legal, regulatory, professional standards, policies and practice guidelines with a primary focus on achieving excellence in patient care by being a high reliability hospital.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Practice Leader for Respiratory Therapy and Cardiac-Diagnostics.The Clinical Practice Leader facilitates and supports continuous learning, professional development, and service excellence through education, coaching and mentoring of staff and clients. Reporting to the Program Director for Nephrology, Outpatient Cardiology, Respiratory Services; and the Director of Professional Practice, the Clinical Practice Leader provides leadership and expertise in Respiratory medicine to support quality excellence in patient care by planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating programs.

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday (on-site)
Location: Humber River Health, Wilson Site
Labour Group: Non-Union
Reporting Relationship: Program Director for Nephrology, Outpatient Cardiology, Respiratory Services; and the Director of Professional Practice

Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for the day-to-day operation of the Respiratory Therapy & Cardio Diagnostic departments and is accountable to the Program Director.
  • In collaboration with the Manager, lead specific quality improvement initiatives for both Cardio Diagnostics and Respiratory Therapy Department.
  • Modeling clinical skills excellence, and promoting the development of clinical teams.
  • Participate in the recruitment, performance planning/development, employee orientation and labour matters of employees in consultation with the Manager, as appropriate.
  • Manage day-to-day processes that enable the delivery of high quality, patient-focused services to meet customer need and expectation.
  • Organize and coordinate activities of clinical areas to meet patient needs and in collaboration with all members of the health care team.
  • Co-ordinate and organize daily staffing assignments and scheduling while facilitating the development of staff to achieve advanced clinical practice standards.
  • Implement internal/external linkages and coordinate services in response to the needs of patients.
  • Ensure adherence to hospital policies, procedures and professional standards are maintained by all staff.
  • Provide leadership and consultation to staff in the development, implementation and evaluation of related projects and initiatives; including the Pulmonary Function Lab and Sleep Lab.

Requirements:

  • Registered member of the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario (CRTO) and in good standing with no restrictions to practice.
  • Master's in Health Science, or related field required. Candidates who are actively pursuing their Master's will be considered.
  • Recent and relevant Cardio Respiratory leadership experience in a hospital setting.
  • Demonstrated patient/family teaching and staff education.
  • Exemplary clinical skills, knowledge and expertise.
  • Demonstrated communication skills and ability towards team building, working collaboratively and building trust.
  • Excellent decision making and problem solving skills with ability to effectively prioritize multiple demands.
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional practice standards and patient-focused care.
  • The ability to design, deliver and evaluate educational programs.
  • Effectively perform clinical coordination and other cross-functional duties across sites consistent with job requirements as needed.
  • Excellent attendance and discipline free record required.
