Job summary

Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a Clinical Nurse Educator to lead knowledge translation and education initiatives across the Western Zone. The role emphasizes practice advancement, program design, and collaboration with interprofessional teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Nursing/Bachelor of Science in Nursing required.
  • Active practicing license in good standing with Nova Scotia Nursing and Midwifery Regulator (NSNMR) required.
  • Minimum three years full-time clinical nursing experience within last five years in Emergency nursing required.
  • CNA Certification/other specialty certification required or willing to complete.
  • BLS-C (HCP) or RQI BLS certification required.

About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, Interprofessional Practice and Learning, Western Zone, the Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) is responsible (in collaboration with key stakeholders) for the assessment, implementation, planning evaluation and supportive application of existing and new clinical knowledge to support the translation of knowledge to practice. The Clinical Nurse Educator demonstrates competency in practice, program design and implementation, monitoring and evaluation of education, leadership and professional practice. The Clinical Nurse Educator exhibits the knowledge, attitudes and behaviors that aligns with the Interprofessional Practice and Learning Framework that supports collaborative person centered care within Nova Scotia Health (NSH).

The Interprofessional Practice and Learning team uses a framework that is grounded in the theories of adult and concept-based learning, practice development, fundamentals of care and collaborative learning and practice. Utilizing professional standards, current evidence, and best practice guidelines, the CNE fosters a culture of learning to build capacity and support the advancement of professional practice through the implementation of orientation and ongoing education programs that integrate a learner centered approach.

The CNE provides advice, consultation, and support to advance practice, and to maintain and develop evidence based standards of care, to optimize patient outcomes within the interprofessional care team.

Please note this position requires periodic travel to facilities within the Western Zone. Access to reliable transportation is required.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Bachelor of Nursing/Bachelor of Science in Nursing required
  • Master of Nursing, Health or Education preferred
  • Active practicing license in good standing with Nova Scotia Nursing and Midwifery Regulator (NSNMR) required
  • Minimum three years full-time clinical nursing experience within last five years in Emergency nursing required
  • CNA Certification/other specialty certification required or willing to complete
  • Certified EPICC Facilitator, CTA Instructor, and completion of Interprofessional Simulation Facilitation Course preferred
  • BLS-C (HCP) or RQI BLS certification required
  • Recent experience as a Clinical Nurse Educator/Nursing Instructor preferred
  • Previous experience in education support, onboarding new staff, and transition to practice an asset
  • Adult Education Program an asset or willing to complete
  • Previous teaching experience which involves designing, implementing and evaluating traditional & non-traditional methods of instruction preferred
  • Evidence of adult education theory & application and leadership development and/or experience in the last year
  • Skilled in the facilitation of concept-based learning, collaborative learning & practice development
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
Hours
  • Long Assignment Full-time position; 75 hours biweekly
  • Approximately 18 months
Compensation and Benefits

$50.80 - $60.63 hourly

$62.74 hourly with 25 years' nursing experience.
