Job summary

Humber River Health is seeking a Laboratory Assistant (Laboratory Technician III) to join our Laboratory Services team. This temporary full-time role at the Wilson Site involves phlebotomy, central processing and ECGs, with opportunities to train in microbiology and histology tasks.

You will perform phlebotomy on adults, children and neonates, maintain equipment, and contribute to timely test results to support patient care. Excellent communication, customer service, and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Laboratory Assistant Technician Certificate.
• MLPAO and/or CSMLS/SCSLM certification.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in performing phlebotomy of adults, children and neonates.
• Experience in microbiology planting an asset.
• Experience in performing ECG’s an asset.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to work alone or in a team.
• Excellent attendance and discipline free record required.
• An understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion principles as they relate to health practices is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Phlebotomy, central processing and ECGs.
• Microbiology planting.
• Dispensing/Discarding duties for Histology department.
• Can be assigned /trained in other Laboratory Disciplines
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
