About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Health Services Manager, Seniors and Frailty, the Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CEP) is responsible for the development, implementation, and continuous quality improvement of program components. The CEP performs evaluations, prescribes conditioning exercise, provides exercise monitoring, coaching, healthy lifestyle education, and outcome evaluation for medically stable individuals with medical conditions, functional limitations or disabilities. Interventions aim to optimize healthy lifestyle choices, promote health, and prevent and manage chronic disease. This specific opportunity involves working in a collaborative multidisciplinary Seniors Care Team with a geriatric population to deliver services in the clients home and community setting.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree with successful completion of at least 120 post-secondary credits within Canadian Society of Exercise Physiologists Clinical Exercise Physiologist Core Competencies.
  • Successful completion of the Canadian Society of Exercise Physiologist Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CSEP-CEP) theory and practical exam or equivalent [American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Clinical Exercise Physiologist; Australia (ESSA) Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP)], and registration with CSEP.
  • Minimum of one year experience in physical activity/exercise and lifestyle education, testing, instruction, and programming in a primary health care/rehabilitation setting or community environment.
  • Advanced knowledge, skills, and proficiency in the areas of exercise physiology, aging, nutrition, behavior change, etc.
  • Experience with individual and group education and facilitation utilizing adult education and motivational enhancement principles
  • Demonstrates person centered/family focused, diversity relevant and population heath approaches to care
  • Well-developed interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Demonstrates flexibility, adaptability, and willingness to change
  • Demonstrates innovation in program planning, implementation, and evaluation
  • Demonstrates strong partnership, collaboration, and community development skills

Hours
Compensation and Benefits

$34.80 - $44.82 Hourly

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.

This position is currently eligible for a Market Adjustment of approximately $XXX.XX biweekly. Eligibility for a Market Adjustment is reviewed periodically.
