Term: September 2025

Duration: 4 or 8 months

Openings: 2 positions

Salary Range: $3,650 - $4,525 CAD per month

We have developed a ground-breaking medical device for the diagnosis and treatment of the most common heart rhythm disorder, atrial fibrillation – which can cause stroke, heart failure, and other heart-related complications .

Kardium’s mission is to deliver the best treatment for atrial fibrillation. To achieve this, we have developed The Globe Pulsed Field System – we have a fantastic technical team that has developed a product with strong, unique, and customer-valued differentiators versus other solutions on the market. We have built connections with key opinion leaders who are already using the Globe System and are helping to tell our story.

We have now completed our pivotal clinical study and our focus is on regulatory approvals and commercial launch. This is an exciting and significant milestone in our journey to bring this ground-breaking technology to patients.

As a member of the Clinical Engineering team, you will get hands-on experience in the development and commercialization of an innovative and complex medical device. The work within our team is varied, and collaboration with other elements of the business is a key part of what we do. With your analytical skills and knowledge of mechanical systems, you’ll have the opportunity to make a tangible contribution to Kardium’s goals.

Please note, this opportunity is a hybrid work arrangement, located in Burnaby, BC.

You will engage in activities that develop practical and transferable skills such as:

  • Developing biomedical research hardware and software tools to support ablation therapy innovations.
  • Performing clinical engineering investigations and summarizing results and recommendations.
  • Designing and manufacturing tools used in simulated procedures with clinical staff and physicians.
  • Performing benchtop studies as part of investigations into product performance, field troubleshooting, and design improvements.
  • Preparing technical documentation to support the activities outlined above and capture the knowledge you’ve gained.

What you bring to the team

You will be successful in this role because you possess these attributes:

  • An interest in healthcare and medical device development
  • Demonstrated communication skills and success working in a team setting
  • Enthusiasm about seeking innovative solutions to unforeseen challenges
  • Positive, proactive attitude and the ability to execute a variety of tasks with an appropriate level of independence
  • Great proficiency with parametric CAD; SolidWorks or similar
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical design & prototyping; experience on the electrical & software side is a plus
  • Experience with machine shop equipment & other tools used in prototyping/manufacturing workflows such as 3D printers and laser cutters
  • A solid understanding of mechanical concepts and their practical application
