Job summary

Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto is seeking a registered dietitian to provide nutritional management for inpatient General Medicine on the acute care unit, aligning with Clinical Nutrition Standards of Practice and person-centred care principles.

The successful candidate will participate in emergency cross coverage, education of dietetic students, and involvement in committees, quality initiatives and interprofessional rounds to advance patient care.

Qualifications

• Current registration with College of Dietitians of Ontario is required.
• Experience with general medicine patients is preferred.
• Proficiency in nutritional assessment and care.
• Experience managing nutrition care plans including enteral, parenteral and therapeutic diets.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize across units.
• Ability to work as part of an interprofessional team.
• Experience educating patients and families.
• Demonstrated initiative and prioritization.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Job description

Summary of Duties:

The successful candidate will provide nutritional management of inpatient General Medicine, acute care unit in K3EA in accordance with the Clinical Nutrition Standards of Practice and the principles of person and family-centred care model that Sunnybrook Hospital follows.

The successful candidate will provide emergency cross coverage as needed and will participate in the advancement of patient care through professional, program-based and organizational committees, quality initiatives, practice-based research, and interprofessional rounds. The candidate will also participate in the education of dietetic students and other students as applicable.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Current registration with College of Dietitians of Ontario required
• Recent experience with general medicine patients preferred
• Proficiency in nutritional assessment and care
• Experience assessing, implementing and managing nutrition care plans, including enteral nutrition, parenteral nutrition, and therapeutic diets required
• Superior organizational skills and ability to effectively prioritize patient care across multiple units
• Ability to work effectively as a member of the interprofessional team
• Experience providing patient and family education and counselling
• Demonstrated initiative, innovative thinking, and ability to effectively prioritize work
