Position Description
Temporary assignment approximately 8 weeks
Position Summary
This position provides support in the day-to-day operations of the Women’s Health and Newborn Care program. The incumbent is responsible for assisting clinical staff with patient flow, documenting patient activities and assisting in minor clinical procedures in accordance with the policies and procedures of the hospital.
Qualifications
- 2 year post-secondary Medical Office Administration diploma from an accredited educational institution and or a combination of equivalent education and experience
- PSW Certification preferred
- Medical Terminology Certificate
- Intermediate skill level for general spelling, medical spelling, medical terminology, MS Excel, and MS Word is required
- Clerical testing may be required as part of the selection process
- 1-2 years of related experience preferably working within a clinic/hospital environment and/or assisting in clinical procedures in a physician's office or ambulatory care setting required
- Experience with billing preferred
- Previous experience in charting patients' medical details
- Previous experience with an electronic medical record (EMR) program(s)
- Demonstrated strong written, verbal, computer and telephone communication skills required
- Demonstrated English language proficiency in verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent work performance, ability to work in a team environment, exceptional interpersonal skills and excellent work ethic is essential
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Multitasking skills essential

- Demonstrated good work performance and attendance record
Responsibilities
- Maintains confidentiality and release of information in accordance with hospital policy at all times.
- Obligation to review and commit to applicable departmental and hospital policies and procedures at all times.
- Escort patients through clinical space and assist with patient preparation for visits while providing patient education around hospital procedures.
- Maintain patient flow
- Collect basic vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, height, weight and and document information in patient's medical record.
- Assist clinical staff with minor procedures (e.g., pap tests, surgical procedures etc.).
- Prepare medical equipment and exam rooms for patient visits as per infection control procedures, (e.g., cleaning patient rooms between patients, and restocking all clinic rooms etc.).
- Order and restock supplies and equipment
- Prepare used medical equipment/instruments for sterile processing as per protocol.
- Maintain general tidiness of unit.
- Locate results from clinical Connect, OLIS and local labs/ultrasound units (training provided)
- Perform other duties as assigned
Wage Rate
Hourly: $28.87...$30.14...$31.37 (plus 14% in lieu of benefits)
