Qualifications

  • Completion of Grade 12 and current BCLS-HCP certification required.
  • 2 years of relevant experience in addiction and mental health preferred.

Job description

Your Opportunity:

Under the direction of the Manager of the Northern Addictions Centre and the Assistant Head Nurse, the successful candidate provides basic and supportive care to clients accessing Northern Addictions Centre services. The primary focus is on the Detox Unit, assisting with client assessment, care planning, and care delivery. The role also involves providing 24/7 general support to clients attending Residential Treatment Programs. Additional responsibilities include crisis intervention, housekeeping duties, facility security, and client transportation using the Northern Addictions Centre vehicle.

The position offers a competitive pay rate and an optional Remote Retention Allowance up to $3,000 annually, non-pensionable, paid hourly for all hours at the basic pay rate.

Description:

As a Client Care Assistant, you will work as part of an interprofessional team to provide supportive care to clients with addictions. Your main duties include ensuring a safe and secure environment, responding to client requests, effective communication with staff, and fostering a therapeutic environment through positive interactions with clients. You will support clients in daily activities, recreational, social, educational, and employment activities, contributing to their respect, autonomy, health, and quality of life. Collaboration with other health and service providers is essential to maintain a safe, supportive environment.

- Days Off: As per rotation
- Salary Range: $23.74 - $27.39 per hour
- Vehicle Requirement: Valid driver’s license and vehicle provided

Minimum Qualifications:
- Completion of Grade 12
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP)

Additional Qualifications:
- At least 2 years of Addiction and Mental Health experience (relevant experience considered)
- Valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s license for local travel

Preferred Qualifications:
- 2 years related experience
- Standard First Aid certification
- AED and Level ‘C’ BCLS-HCP certification
- Nursing assistant experience and strong computer skills are assets.
