Job summary

City of Burlington seeks a Clerk, Transit Rider Experience to support Burlington GO Station, selling fare media and assisting riders with schedules and trip planning.

The role requires a High School diploma and at least 1 year of customer service experience, including cash handling. Knowledge of PRESTO, transit apps and CRM/POS systems is an asset. 15 hrs/week, 1-year defined-term contract with flexible hours.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required.
• Minimum 1 year in customer service handling cash and assisting the public.
• Familiarity with bus systems, Presto, maps and transit apps is an asset.
• Experience with POS, MS Office and CRM is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Sell fare media and load Presto Cards, provide trip planning information.

This position will require flexible working hours with a varied schedule including the potential to work evenings or weekends.ResponsibilitiesThe Clerk, Transit Rider Experience is responsible for:Selling of various fare media, load and sell Presto Cards and provide detailed trip planning and schedule informationResponding to phone inquiries regarding scheduling of local and inter-city transitEntering customer service inquiries and complaints into the corporate Customer Relationship Management system to ensure timely resolutionPreparing deposits for cash received and reconcile Point of Sale reportsRequirementsThe successful candidate will have graduated High School. Knowledge of bus systems, transit routes, PRESTO and using tools like Google Maps, Apple Maps and Transit App would be an asset. Successful candidates must have 1 year in customer service with duties including handling and balancing cash, working with the public and answering the telephone.
