Job description

Front End Second - Sobeys New Glasgow (Westside)

Responsible for supporting the front end manager in the overall operation of the front end department, including providing management and leadership to staff. Ensure operational excellence in retail merchandising, inventory management, and customer relations. Work closely with the Front End Manager to coach and develop the team to deliver superior customer service and shopping experiences, tailored to the local market, while achieving financial targets. Contribute to an environment of employee and customer engagement.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Create a coaching and development culture for all department employees, fostering a passion for food.
  2. Manage department personnel, including scheduling, recruitment, performance management, and training.
  3. Communicate operational requirements and changes to front-end staff.
Customer Offering:
  1. Create engaging shopping experiences that enhance loyalty, sales, and profit.
  2. Provide excellent customer service to meet customer needs.
  3. Merchandise front end racks and fixtures and manage product ordering.
  4. Order and maintain inventory levels.
  5. Address and resolve customer concerns and requests.
  6. Execute winning conditions and SMART initiatives.
Policy and Regulatory Compliance:
  1. Communicate and ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures.
  2. Maintain compliance with OH&S, Food Safety, and other regulatory standards.
  3. Ensure efficient department operations to meet financial targets and KPIs.
  4. Balance cash office according to policies, perform negative tracking via Navistor, and correct discrepancies.
  5. Handle payroll functions.
Personal and Professional Development:
  1. Understand relevant company programs and attend required training.
  2. Stay informed about industry trends.
Employee Engagement:
  1. Support an environment of employee engagement to be recognized as an employer of choice.
Other Duties:
  1. Coordinate maintenance and repairs of department equipment.
  2. Provide feedback for continuous improvement.
  3. Perform additional tasks as requested by the company.
Qualifications:
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
  • Full knowledge of department operations and skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Comprehensive understanding of total store operations.
  • High school diploma.
  • Minimum of 18 months experience in the front-end department.
