Job summary

Peterborough Regional Health Centre (PRHC) is seeking an Inpatient Clerk to support patient care teams on inpatient units. The role involves reception duties, directing patients and visitors to the right clinical staff, and assisting with non-clinical tasks to improve the patient experience.

The successful candidate will have a Hospital Nursing Unit Secretary Certificate or equivalent, strong medical terminology knowledge, and proficiency in Outlook and Word.

HOURS OF WORK:

The stated hours of work are approximate as schedules are subject to change with the operational needs of the Health Centre. Changes made to hours of work will follow the terms of the applicable collective agreement, company policy and/or legislation.

Approximate # of hours: 18.5

Type of Shifts:

4, 8 and 12-hour shifts; days, evenings stats and weekends

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

• Successful completion of a Hospital Nursing Unit Secretary Certificate or an equivalent combination of education and work experience

• Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology and abbreviations
• Demonstrated basic knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Word
• Accurate keyboarding skills: 4500 keystrokes per hour
• Ability to type 35 words per minute
