Job summary

Humber River Health is seeking a part-time clerical assistant to support patient registration, discharge processes, and billing. The role involves scheduling, answering inquiries, and coordinating with bed allocation and departments to ensure smooth patient flow.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma (or equivalent) and experience with MEDITECH, MS Office, and fast, accurate typing. Strong communication and independent work skills are required in a fast-paced hospital setting.

  • Deliver courteous customer service including scheduling appointments and handling inquiries.
  • Coordinate bed allocation and communicate with departments for patient placement.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth operations.

Employment Status: Temporary Part-time Duration: 6 months Hours of Work: Rotating shifts, 8 or 12 hours, days/evenings/nights/weekend Location: Humber River Health, Wilson Site Labour Group: Teamsters Clerical Reporting Relationship: Manager, Birthing Unit Hourly Rate: $29.966- $31.016

Position Responsibilities
  • Responsible for clerical support including patient registration and discharge, maintenance of patient records, order entry, statistics, and assisting with patient billing.
  • Responsible for customer service including scheduling appointments, answering patient inquiries, telephone inquiries, greeting patients and visitors in a courteous manner.
  • Communicates with bed allocation and other departments to arrange patient placement.
  • Communicates with other departments and service areas as required.
Qualifications
  • High school graduate or equivalent required
  • Completion of a Community College Medical Secretary Diploma an asset
  • Minimum 1 year recent clerical/office administration experience in a health care setting required
  • Good keyboarding skills, with minimum typing speed of 40 WPM
  • Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office Suite
  • MEDITECH computer experience required
  • A good working knowledge of basic related medical terminology
  • Strong interpersonal skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a team environment
  • Excellent attendance and discipline free record required.
