Job description

Position Overview

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Cleaning Technician has a basic understanding of restoration techniques used in cleaning content and structures is preferred. Duties will include structural cleaning as well as content packing, listing, photographing, manipulation and restorative cleaning; however will lend assistance to other divisions in (minor) demolition, debris disposal, poly and prep containment set up and removal.

Job Duties

1. Provide sound cleaning practices at customer job sites and in the warehouse for content processing, including but not limited to packing, listing, photographing, manipulating, and transporting content when necessary.
2. Process all content according to industry standards and regardless of their condition ensuring they are returned to the customer or disposed of as directed by the Project Manager.
3. Provide sound cleaning practices at customer job sites for structures, including but not limited to poly and prep set up and take down, cleaning ceiling, walls, doors, baseboard, casing, counter tops, fixtures, floors and appliances as required.
4. Erect and disassemble scaffolding when required.
5. Ensure all Health and Safety policies and procedures are adhered to.
6. Familiarity with chemical products, including use, disposal and Safety Data Sheets application.
7. Provide excellent customer service.
8. Work under time constraints to meet specific timelines.
9. Ensure attention to detail and keen sense of safeguarding other people’s property and information.
10. Practice good housekeeping at all times to ensure a safe and non-cluttered worksite.
11. Participate in and demonstrate an understanding of safety principles and practices; follow all safety policies and procedures to support a safe working environment, including safe operation of machines and equipment.
12. Comply with all Belfor policies and procedures, as well as legislative requirements.
13. Proactively communicate job site conditions and concerns that may or are affecting completion of the job to the appropriate person.
14. This role could be required to act as a “lead” periodically as designated by their manager.
15. Attend all Belfor sponsored training courses.

Qualifications

1. 1+ years experience in cleaning applications.
2. Construction / Restoration / Insurance experience preferred.
3. IICRC certification in Fire and Smoke, Odour Control and/or Water Damage preferred.
4. Comprehensive understanding of customer service, principles and practices.
5. Eligible to operate a motor vehicle per Belfor’s vehicle policy.
6. Ability to work within a team or independently as needed.
7. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
8. Proven ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
9. Basic computer and/or tablet/iPad experience with Microsoft Office programs such as Excel, Word and Google Suite.
10. Willing to work evenings, on call and weekends when requested.
11. Periodic travel may be required.
12. Criminal Record Check.

Physical Demands

1. Frequent lifting from 5-40 lbs, unassisted (from 35-65% of the time).
2. Occasional lifting from 41 lbs +, assisted (up to 50% of the time).
3. Access and mobility in tight spaces.
4. Fit Testing – half and full face mask as needed, annual certification required.
5. Working at Heights - over 5 feet, periodically.
6. Sustained periods of standing, sitting, walking, bending, and kneeling.
