Job summary

Metro Toronto Convention Centre in Toronto is seeking a Cleaning Services Supervisor to lead the cleaning team and maintain the highest standards of cleanliness throughout the venue. The role reports to the Cleaning Services Manager and requires fostering an engaging, safety‑conscious team environment.

Responsibilities include supervising daily operations, coordinating schedules, training staff, and ensuring compliance with health and safety policies.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a cleaning industry.
• Previous housekeeping experience in a large facility is desired.
• Work shifts on a rotational basis.
• Solid computer skills with knowledge of Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the building to the highest standard of cleaning.
• Ensure the facility is fully cleaned after each shift, including booths, equipment, trash, and tape removal.
• Adhere to health, safety, and WHMIS policies and procedures.
• Handle administrative duties such as scheduling, timesheets, and incident reporting.
• Supervise staff, guiding performance and proper use of equipment.
• Inspect buildings daily to ensure cleaning remains at a high standard.
• Coordinate weekly schedules with collective bargaining and operational needs.
• Train staff on responsibilities and health & safety procedures.
• Check and record equipment sign-in/out and bulk trash for events.
• Monitor supply inventory and request additional supplies as needed.
• Assist with client show floor reminders to promote booth cleaning.

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are currently recruiting for a Cleaning Services Supervisor in our Cleaning Services Department. Reporting to the Cleaning Services Manager, the successful candidate will ensure that the building is maintained to highest standard of cleaning that the MTCC has been recognized for throughout its history. If you have a passion for customer service and enjoy working in a high energy and creative work environment then this position is for you. The successful candidate will have strong work ethic and demonstrated ability to foster an engaging team environment.

Cleaning Services Supervisor plays an integral part to the success of the cleaning services team. Encouraging, coaching and teaching staff to complete the assigned tasks up to the MTCC's high standard is of the upmost importance to this role's success.

JOB RESPONSIBILTIES

• Ensure that the building ismaintainedto highest standard of cleaning
• Ensure that the building is completely clean after each shiftincluding booth and equipment cleaning, bulktrashand tape removal
• Administer and ensure that company policies and procedures are adhered to, including all health and safety and WHMIS legislation
• Administrativeduties which includingscheduling,timesheetsand accident reports
• Supervise to guide and instruct for the purpose of performance and use of equipment and supplies.
• Inspect buildings daily to ensure cleaning ismaintainedto high standard
• Assistingwith department weekly schedule to ensure alignment withtheCollective Bargaining Agreementand operationaldemands
• Training and overlooking job responsibilities of new and existing staff
• Train staffon Health & Safety procedures
• Check Sign In/Out sheets for equipment and ensure accuracy
• Track and complete staff shift sign in sheets and ensure accuracy
• Inspect andrecord bulk trash amounts for each event for the purpose of billing
• Track supply inventory levels and requestadditionalsupplies when needed
• Distribute reminders on show floor to increase sales and promote booth cleaning to clients
• Provide and complete client order forms on the show floor
• In absence of Manager, represent the department

Please note thatthispositionincludesrotated shifts, nights,weekendsand holidays.On occasion you wouldbe requiredto fill in for the Cleaning Services Manager.

JOB SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

• Strongworking knowledge of power sweepers and scrubbers, plushigh-speedfloor machines
• 3-5 years of supervisory experiencein a cleaning industry
• Previoushousekeeping experience preferably within a large facility isrequired
• Work shifts on a rotational basis
• Solid computer skills arerequired
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
• Fluency in English isessential, French is an asset
