Job description

Employment Type: Permanent Full-Time, Bargaining Unit (1 Vacancy)

Work Hours: 35 hours/week: Monday – Friday 9 am – 5 pm

Work Setting: Exclusively Onsite

Salary: External Rate: B7 - $35,928.38
Internal Rate: B8 - $36,661.62

Program Overview – Building Services, Housing & Homelessness Services

Building Services is responsible for preventative and emergency maintenance at WoodGreen owned, leased, and managed properties, including janitorial, groundskeeping. The program prepares residential suites for new occupants, supervises and carries out upgrades, provides physical support to programs and services, and ensures compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and policies.

What You Will Do
  1. Carry out routine and emergency janitorial work, including rubbish removal, groundskeeping, floor maintenance, and cleaning of washrooms, stairwells, windows, garbage chute rooms, laundry rooms, and elevators.
  2. Manage garbage bins, including scheduling and placement for pickup by city or contracted waste management.
  3. Operate machinery such as garden tractors and floor buffers.
  4. Clean public facilities and offices.
  5. Vacuum and mop assigned areas.
  6. Perform heavy lifting of supplies and equipment.
  7. Respond to emergencies as needed.
  8. Support other WoodGreen departments as required.
  9. Set up meeting rooms for events.
  10. Maintain janitorial equipment in good working order.
  11. Carry building keys and cellular phones.
  12. Adhere to all relevant codes, standards, and policies.
  13. Ability to walk and stand for long periods.
What You Bring to the Team
  • High School Diploma.
  • Experience as a cleaner in commercial and/or residential settings.
What Will Set You Apart
  • Proficiency in English, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Experience managing keys and security systems.
  • Ability to operate various janitorial machinery.
  • Ability to follow policies, schedules, and directions.
  • Experience working with mental health, addictions, or homeless populations is a strong asset.
