Job summary

GFL Environmental is seeking a Class 3 Swing Driver to join our team in Dawson Creek, BC. You will operate solid waste collection vehicles across assigned routes, focusing on safety and efficiency.

The successful candidate will hold a valid Class 3 license with air brakes, have at least one year of commercial driving experience, and demonstrate reliable attendance with flexibility for early shifts and overtime. We offer a competitive benefits package and a supportive work environment.

• Minimum 1 year of relevant commercial driving experience.
• Ability to safely operate heavy commercial collection vehicles and hydraulic packer systems.

• Reliable with good attendance and flexibility for early morning shifts and overtime.
• Physical fitness to meet job demands.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate vehicles to complete assigned routes.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections daily and complete logs.
• Operate hydraulic and compaction systems safely.
• Report mechanical issues, hazards, or safety incidents promptly.
• Maintain high route productivity and vehicle cleanliness.
• Adhere to traffic laws, bylaws, safety policies, PPE.
• Collaborate with Dispatchers and Supervisors to ensure smooth operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Licensing: Valid Class 3 Driver’s License with Air Brakes and a clean Driver’s Abstract.
• Driving Experience: Minimum 1 year of relevant commercial driving experience.

Responsibilities

• Safe Fleet Operation: Safely operate GFL vehicles to complete assigned routes.
• Safety Inspections: Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections daily and complete required trip logs, paperwork and e-logs.
• System Operations: Skillfully operate hydraulic and compaction systems using proper techniques to prevent equipment damage.
• Reporting & Maintenance: Promptly report any mechanical write-ups, route hazards, or safety incidents to management.
• Service Quality: Maintain high route productivity, customer service standards, and vehicle cleanliness.
• Regulatory Compliance: Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, municipal bylaws, company safety policies, and required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) standards.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with Dispatchers and Supervisors to support smooth, efficient daily operations.
• Additional Duties: Perform other operational duties as assigned by leadership.
