Birch Mountain Enterprises is looking to hire experienced Class 1 Operators. Must have experience with demo end dump, demo B-train, flat deck, pipe hauling, chaining, strapping, and driving in the mine with a minimum of 3 years of manual transmission experience. NO CAMP, NO FLIGHTS.

Job Summary:

Based at our Fort McKay main shop, this role involves the safe operation of various Class 1 units. Candidates should be mechanically inclined and physically capable of working in all weather conditions. Preference will be given to those with prior industrial experience. Overnight stays in Edmonton/Red Deer may be required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Operate multiple types of units (demo end dump, demo B-train, flat deck) safely and efficiently
• Load securement, chains, and straps
• Be physically able to perform all tasks in various weather conditions
• Complete daily documentation such as logbooks, work orders, risk assessments, and inspections
• Follow instructions from Dispatch or Supervisors
• Maintain cleanliness and basic maintenance of assigned trucks
• Attend safety meetings and adhere to safety regulations

• Use and maintain tools and equipment according to standards
• Keep training current
• Follow TDG and WHMIS standards and regulations
• Seek continuous improvement opportunities
• Provide excellent customer service

Qualifications:

• Valid Class 1 driver’s license with a clean abstract
• At least 3 years of experience, including up to 18-speed manual equipment
• Experience with demo end dump, demo B-train, flat deck
• Mining experience is an asset
• Chaining and strapping experience required
• Pipe hauling experience is an asset

• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• OSSA (or BSO/CSO) and CSTS certification
• Additional certifications (e.g., TDG, Trip Inspections, Hours of Service, Cargo Securement, WHMIS, H2S) are assets
• Must pass BME driver’s evaluation, drug & alcohol screening, and fitness for duty assessment
