Job description

Birch Mountain Enterprises is looking to hire experienced Class 1 Operators. Must have experience with demo end dump, demo B-train, flat deck, pipe hauling, chaining, and strapping, and driving in the mine with a minimum of 3 years of manual transmission experience. NO CAMP, NO FLIGHTS.

Job Summary:

Based at our Fort McKay shop, this role involves the safe operation of various Class 1 units. Candidates should be mechanically inclined and physically capable of working in all weather conditions. Preference will be given to those with previous industrial sector experience. May require overnight stays in Edmonton/Red Deer.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate multiple types of units (demo end dump, demo B-train, flat deck) safely and efficiently
  • Load securement, chains, and straps
  • Be physically able to perform tasks and work in all weather conditions
  • Complete daily documentation (logbooks, work orders, risk assessments, inspections)
  • Follow instructions from Dispatch or Supervisor
  • Maintain cleanliness of assigned truck for company image
  • Attend safety meetings and adhere to safety regulations
  • Maintain and operate tools and equipment per standards
  • Keep training current
  • Follow TDG and WHMIS standards and regulations
  • Seek continuous improvement opportunities
  • Provide customer-focused service in all activities

Qualifications:

  • Valid Class 1 driver’s license with a clean abstract
  • Minimum 3 years experience, including up to 18-speed manual equipment
  • Experience operating demo end dump, demo B-train, flat deck
  • Mining drive experience is an asset
  • Chaining and strapping experience required
  • Pipe hauling experience is an asset
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • OSSA (or BSO/CSO) and CSTS certification
  • Additional certifications (TDG, Trip Inspections, Hours of Service, Weights & Dimensions, Cargo Securement, WHMIS, H2S Alive) are assets
  • Must pass BME driver’s evaluation, D&A, and fit-for-duty screening
