Job summary

Manitoulin Transport is hiring a Class 1 driver for a line-haul route operating from Prince George, Sunday night to Thursday night, with freight transfers in Quesnel and trailer switching in Williams Lake. The role includes some local deliveries and shunting at shift end.

You must have a Class 1 license and ideally 1 year of pickup and delivery experience. Knowledge of the local area is a plus; deck, TDG/WHMIS, and forklift experience are assets.

Responsibilities

• Operate a Class 1 vehicle on a line-haul route from Sunday night to Thursday night, departing Prince George at 10:30 pm.
• Execute freight transfers in Quesnel and switch trailers in Williams Lake, with possible return stops.
• Finish shift with shunting and/or local deliveries as needed.
• Complete pre- and post-trip inspections; document findings on ELD per regulations.
• Ensure freight is secured; prevent damage or loss.
• Maintain logbooks and delivery documentation (bills of lading, confirmations).
• Report mechanical issues or safety concerns; follow HOS regulations.
• Communicate delivery status and delays with dispatch, warehouse staff, and customers.

Job Description

• Operate a Class 1 commercial vehicle on a line-haul route from Sunday night to Thursday night, departing Prince George at 10:30 pm
• Execute freight transfers in Quesnel and switch trailers in Williams Lake, with a possible return stop in Quesnel before returning to Prince George
• Finish shift doing some shunting and/or local deliveries as required
• Complete pre- and post-trip inspections of equipment and document findings on an Electronic Logging Device (ELD) in compliance with regulations
• Ensure all freight is properly secured and loaded to prevent damage, loss, or insurance claims
• Maintain accurate logbooks and delivery documentation, including bills of lading and delivery confirmations
• Perform routine vehicle maintenance checks and report any mechanical issues or safety concerns to management immediately
• Adhere to all Hours of Service (HOS) regulations and maintain a safe driving record
• Communicate effectively with dispatch, warehouse staff, and customers regarding delivery status and any delays or issues
