Job summary

Manitoulin Transport is seeking a Class 1 driver for a line-haul route operating Sundays through Thursdays, starting in Prince George at 10:30 PM. The role includes freight transfers in Quesnel, trailer switches in Williams Lake, and potential return stops before heading back to Prince George.

Responsibilities include completing inspections, securing loads, and maintaining logs on an ELD compliant with regulations.

Qualifications

• Must be able to provide a criminal record check.
• 2 work-related references required.
• Current driver's abstract.
• 1 year of pick-up and delivery experience.
• Knowledge of the Prince George area is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Operate a Class 1 commercial vehicle on a line-haul route from Sunday night to Thursday night, departing Prince George at 10:30 pm.
• Execute freight transfers in Quesnel and switch trailers in Williams Lake, with a possible return stop in Quesnel before returning to Prince George.
• Finish shift with shunting and/or local deliveries as required.
• Complete pre- and post-trip inspections and document findings on an ELD per regulations.
• Ensure all freight is secured and loaded to prevent damage or claims.
• Maintain accurate logbooks and delivery documentation (bills of lading, confirmations).
• Perform routine vehicle maintenance checks and report issues to management.
• Adhere to Hours of Service regulations and maintain a safe driving record.
• Communicate with dispatch, warehouse staff, and customers regarding status and delays.

Job Description

• Operate a Class 1 commercial vehicle on a line-haul route from Sunday night to Thursday night, departing Prince George at 10:30 pm
• Execute freight transfers in Quesnel and switch trailers in Williams Lake, with a possible return stop in Quesnel before returning to Prince George
• Finish shift doing some shunting and/or local deliveries as required
• Complete pre- and post-trip inspections of equipment and document findings on an Electronic Logging Device (ELD) in compliance with regulations
• Ensure all freight is properly secured and loaded to prevent damage, loss, or insurance claims
• Maintain accurate logbooks and delivery documentation, including bills of lading and delivery confirmations
• Perform routine vehicle maintenance checks and report any mechanical issues or safety concerns to management immediately
• Adhere to all Hours of Service (HOS) regulations and maintain a safe driving record
• Communicate effectively with dispatch, warehouse staff, and customers regarding delivery status and any delays or issues

Qualifications

• TDG, WHMIS, and Forklift experience are an asset
