Summary:

Under the direction of the Team Leader, the Class 1 Driver is responsible for the safe operation of various tractor trailers, including vans and decks, for pick-up and delivery of materials to designated locations. This is a safety-sensitive position requiring completion of pre-employment testing, a valid class 1 driver's license (or equivalent), and a satisfactory Five (5) year Commercial Driver's Abstract to support insurability. The employee must also complete an in-house road test prior to onboarding.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Operate commercial vehicles safely and efficiently.
2. Complete daily driver logs in accordance with Alberta’s hours of service regulations.
3. Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
4. Ensure the vehicle is properly equipped and maintained.
5. Maintain the operation and maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
6. Follow scheduled delivery plans and notify supervisors of any deviations.
7. Maintain shipping and loading documentation.
8. Practice professional driving habits at all times.
9. Remain alert to potential risks and threats to prevent losses.
10. Adapt to a fast-paced work environment with flexibility.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

1. Valid Class 1 driver’s license and a clean five-year driving abstract, current within 30 days.
2. High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
3. Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English.
4. Minimum of two years of relevant driving experience.
5. Experience with load securement and deck operations.
6. Air Brake “Q” Endorsement.
7. Forklift certification.
8. Warehousing or yard work experience is an asset.
9. Legal eligibility to work in Canada.

Position Details:

This is a full-time position based in Edmonton, AB. Work schedule: Tuesday to Friday, 10-hour days, from 9:00 am to 7:30 pm.
