Job summary

West Coast Reduction Ltd. in Vancouver is hiring a Class 1 Driver to operate company vehicles safely, follow routes from the Fleet Dispatcher, and deliver outstanding customer service on-site and at customer locations.

You will be part of a family-owned team of over 450 employees, with training, extended health benefits, RRSP matching after 1 year, and a compensation package for full-time staff. This role includes pre-trip inspections and SOP adherence.

Qualifications

• Valid Class 1 Driver’s Licence with a clean abstract.
• 3 years of commercial truck driving experience is an asset.
• Ability to work Day, Afternoon, and Night shifts.
• Strong knowledge of the Greater Vancouver area and English proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Drive scheduled routes to customer destinations per dispatcher instructions.
• Pickup high volumes of material from various locations per SOPs.
• Monitor loads, unload at destinations, and follow pit dumping rules.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections daily.
• Maintain tools/equipment and report maintenance issues promptly.
• Follow safety protocols and company policies; work overtime as needed.
• Contribute to a positive team culture and adhere to conduct guidelines.

Based at our Vancouver plant, the Class 1 Driver is responsible for safely operating company vehicles while following instructions and routes from the Fleet Dispatcher or Fleet Superintendent. The role requires the delivery of exceptional customer service when interacting with customers. Often viewed as the face of the Company, Drivers are expected to act professionally both on the road and at locations of service when dealing with customers and the public.

Wage: $34.09 - $42.62 hourly

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Drive scheduled routes to appointed customer destinations based on instructions from the Fleet Dispatcher and/or Fleet Superintendent
• As per the Raw Material Handling SOP WCRSW03, pick up high volumes of material from various locations including processors, abattoirs, and packing houses
• Monitor Raw material loads from customers into containers or trailers, and unload Raw Material loads from trucks and trailers as per pit dumping rules
• Maintain tools, equipment, and spill response kits. Understand the Conveyance clean and disinfect SOP WCRSC07
• Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections
• Report issues or concerns related to vehicle maintenance, damaged containers and/or equipment or Customer to the Fleet Maintenance / Dispatcher in a timely manner
• Operate all equipment safely and efficiently
• Follow safety protocols and other procedures as dictated by WCRL or the customer’s requirements
• Perform shift work based on company business needs which evolve and change in response to customer demands
• Work overtime as instructed to ensure minimal downtime of facilities
• Adhere to the company Code of Conduct and all West Coast Reduction Ltd. policies
• Foster a positive team and company culture by ensuring treatment of others is respectful and aligned with company values
• Perform other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS & FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

• Possession of a valid Class 1 Driver’s Licence with a clean abstract
• 3 years of experience in commercial truck driving or a similar environment an asset
• Must be able to adapt to working Days, Afternoons, and Night Shifts
• Strong knowledge of the Greater Vancouver / Lower Mainland area
• Proficiency in English, both written and verbal, with excellent communication skills
• Familiarity with operating hydraulic equipment required

Functional Requirements

• Ability to frequently move, carry, lift, push and pull equipment up to 50 lbs without assistance and occasionally greater with assistance
• Physically capable of lifting container lids, climbing ladders, and pull-on cable hooks, and other heavy tools on a frequent basis
• Perform repetitive motions including bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing and reaching overhead above the shoulders daily
• Adaptable to adverse conditions including confined space, heights, cold weather, odours and exposure to animal by-products
