Zurich Canada is currently seeking a Claims Specialist in Calgary or Vancouver. Reporting to the Claims Team Manager, you will handle bodily injury and property damage claims for commercial lines insureds of low to moderate exposure and complexity, following established protocols to ensure efficient, effective claims handling and excellent customer service.

Responsibilities
  1. Document claims accurately, updating claims data in compliance with best practices.
  2. Determine liability by analyzing relevant facts and applicable law.
  3. Verify policies and coverage, analyzing applicable coverage for claims.
  4. Develop case strategies for timely resolution, escalate issues when necessary.
  5. Establish and review reserves within authority limits.
  6. Assess damages and calculate damages or ranges.
  7. Negotiate settlements within authority limits.
  8. Ensure quality standards and regulatory compliance.
  9. Maintain data integrity and proper documentation.
  10. Deliver exceptional customer service through proactive communication.
  11. Manage expenses and coordinate with vendors.
  12. Identify potential subrogation and fraud.
  13. Provide risk insights and contribute to profitable growth.
  14. Protect confidentiality of claims information.
Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in a relevant field, or equivalent experience with 2+ years in liability or auto injury claims.
  • Knowledge of insurance claims, evaluating injuries and damages.
  • Understanding of automobile insurance policies and coverage.
  • Results-oriented with strong attention to detail and procedures.
  • Leadership, time management, and communication skills.
Preferred
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience, including premises liability claims.
  • Experience with claims reviews, stakeholder communication, and relationship management.
  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency with Office 365; CIP designation is a plus.
Additional Information
