Job summary

Canada Life is seeking a Permanent Full Time Disability Claims Investigator to join our national team. You will investigate suspicious disability claims, conduct interviews, and document findings to support fair and timely claim resolutions.

This role requires strong investigative experience, reporting skills, and collaboration with internal stakeholders across Canada. The position supports a hybrid work model with in-office presence two days per week.

Job description

Permanent Full Time

As part of our national Claims Investigation Team, you will investigate suspicious disability claims involving potential misrepresentation or misuse of benefits. Your work will directly support accurate, defensible claim outcomes while protecting the financial integrity of Canada Life and the clients we serve.

Using structured, objective, and evidence based investigative methods, you will assess complex information from multiple sources, conduct interviews, and clearly document findings. Your investigations will support benefit decisions, recovery actions, and, when appropriate, escalation to legal or law enforcement partners. You will work closely with disability case managers and internal stakeholders, providing insights and recommendations that contribute to fair, timely, and well supported claim resolutions.

This role is well suited to professionals with strong experience in Disability Management or investigators from law enforcement, intelligence, OSINT, regulatory compliance, or corporate investigations who are looking to apply their skills in a complex insurance environment.

What You Will Do

• Consult with the Disability Management Services offices to identify and investigate suspicious claims and investigative insights and recommendations to support informed claim outcomes
• Conduct open source investigations
• Complete comprehensive claim file reviews
• Prepare clear, defensible investigative reports and documentation
• Conduct investigative interviews where appropriate
• Engage and coordinate with third party vendors to support investigative activities
• Collaborate with disability case managers on strategy, findings, and next steps
• Partner with Legal, Corporate Investigations, and other internal stakeholders on shared or complex files
• Manage overpayment recoveries by negotiating repayment agreements with plan members
• Deliver education and knowledge sharing initiatives to disability operations

What You Will Bring

• Formal investigative experience such as law enforcement, OSINT, intelligence, or corporate investigations
• Strong subject matter expertise in disability insurance supported by hands on claims management experience

Additional Qualifications For All Candidates

• Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in a relevant discipline
• Strong investigative planning, analytical, and critical thinking skills
• Demonstrated experience conducting interviews
• Excellent report writing skills with the ability to document findings clearly, objectively, and defensibly
• High level of organization and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple active investigations
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to engage professionally with internal and external stakeholders
• OSINT experience, intelligence analysis, or law enforcement background is an asset
• As this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism is an asset (fluent in French and English) but is required for Quebec only as the position will regularly serve our clients with French and English-speaking needs

Additional Information

• Reliability Status Security Clearance – this can only be completed with candidates who receive an offer of employment. This is a personal security status that is required as a condition of employment before an employee can gain access to Protected B information, assets or work sites as outlined by the Government of Canada website. The cost of submitting these checks will be covered by Canada Life

Given the size and scope of our organization, we have the flexibility for this position to be located across Canada. This role follows a hybrid work model, with an in-office presence required two days per week at the designated office location.

The base salary for this position is between $68,800 - $114,700 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
