We are seeking a qualified individual to join our dynamic team of Claims Counsel, Surety professionals in Toronto.

Responsibilities

The Claims Counsel will manage claims within the Surety and Warranty lines of business. Responsibilities include:

  • Coverage evaluation
  • Setting claim reserves
  • Reviewing, interpreting, negotiating, and drafting agreements
  • Responding to principals, brokers, and claimants
  • Litigation management
  • Negotiation of settlements
  • Authorizing payments
  • Supporting surety underwriters

The role involves investigating, evaluating, and resolving claims in collaboration with internal and external counsel, claims adjusters, and consultants.

Qualifications
  • Membership in good standing of the Law Society of Ontario
  • 2+ years’ experience in construction law, banking, insurance, or litigation; surety experience is a plus
  • Fully bilingual in French and English is an asset
