Job summary

HSB Canada, part of Munich Re, seeks an experienced Claims Adjuster for our downtown Toronto office. You will handle full-cycle equipment breakdown claims, advise clients, and coordinate expert investigations while maintaining exceptional service levels.

The role requires strong negotiation, analytical thinking, and client-focused communication, with a hybrid in-office/remote work arrangement and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education preferred.
  • University degree and/or CIP designation completed or in progress.
  • 3-5 years of experience in commercial property or equipment breakdown claims.
  • Technical credentials and/or strong understanding of equipment breakdown are assets.
  • Exceptional negotiation skills and strong customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Full-cycle claims handling from First Notice of Loss to final settlement.
  • Advise insureds on claims issues and provide prompt service.

Primary Objectives:

HSB is currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team of experts as a Claims Adjuster in our office located in downtown Toronto . The right professional for this opportunity is client focused, self- driven, and enjoys utilizing their technical expertise to resolve equipment breakdown claims in a prompt and helpful manner. Come partner with our team and act as a key HSB liaison as we continue to strategically strengthen HSB’s claims capabilities and our clients’ experiences.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Full-cycle claims handling, from First Notice of Loss to final settlement and payment.
  • Effectively advise the insured on issues related to claims and provide prompt service and quality.
  • Appoint and lead experts in support of the investigation of claims.
  • Negotiate settlements and other challenges to resolve claims.
  • Interact with insureds and client company to provide advice and guidance towards effective resolution of claims.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of post-secondary education is preferred.
  • University degree and/or CIP designation (completed or in progress).
  • 3-5 years of experience in commercial property or equipment breakdown claims.
  • Technical credentials and/or a strong understanding of equipment breakdown are considered an asset
  • Exceptional negotiation skills, combined with excellent customer service and relationship-building abilities.
  • Strong analytical thinking and the ability to exercise sound judgment.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and claims management databases.
  • Possession of a valid Adjuster License to handle claims in multiple provinces (e.g., New Brunswick, Nova Scotia) is preferred.
  • Bilingual proficiency in French and English is a valuable asset.

Our base salary range for this role is between $89000 and $104000 per year , plus an opportunity for an annual company bonus based upon a percentage of eligible pay. The salary estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for candidates hired in this position. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to internal equity. This role is located in our Toronto office on 390 Bay St, and we operate in a hybrid work model. This job posting is for an existing vacancy.
