Position Overview

Kiewit’s Western Canada District primarily performs heavy civil projects specializing in earth moving, transportation, roadways, bridges, water resources, and underground utilities. We are looking for hard working individuals with a passion for construction who aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty! Our current opportunities are spread across Western Canada.

Location

This position will start on a highway interchange project located on BC Highway 1 in Langley, BC. #LI-RP1

Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily field construction activities related to underground utilities (storm, sanitary, water), roadworks, and general civil infrastructure.
  • Coordinate work with subcontractors, suppliers, engineers, and other internal departments to meet schedule and budget goals.
  • Lead field crews in adherence to Kiewit’s safety, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Review project drawings and specifications to ensure work is executed accurately.
  • Monitor productivity, progress, and performance, proactively identifying and resolving issues in the field.
  • Plan and schedule daily and weekly work activities in coordination with the project scheduler and construction managers.
  • Conduct daily site inspections, safety meetings, and toolbox talks.
  • Ensure all field documentation such as daily reports, timesheets, and material tracking is completed accurately and timely.
  • Mentor and support foremen and field staff in technical execution and leadership development.
Qualifications
  • 8+ years of construction experience in heavy civil and utility work, preferably in a supervisory or superintendent capacity.
  • Experience with large-scale roadway or interchange projects is a strong asset.
  • Strong knowledge of underground utilities, earthworks, and civil construction methods.
  • Proven ability to manage crews, subcontractors, and self-perform work efficiently and safely.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with project scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6) and construction management systems.
  • Commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.

Other Requirements:

  • Work productively and meet deadlines timely.
  • Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment.
  • Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
  • Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.
  • May work at various different locations and conditions may vary.

Base Compensation:$150,000+

  • Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location.
  • Additional project-based premiums may be applied depending on assignment.
