GB Projects, sister company to GB Paving, requires a General Superintendent to join our ranks. We are looking for an individual with extensive experience in underground utilities and earthworks projects. We are looking for a highly motivated, self driven individual that is ready to take their career to the next level. We are looking for the right individual with the right attitude that is trustworthy, transparent, knowledgeable, even during stressful situations.
The General Superintendent is heavily involved in the day-to-day operations of their projects. You will be responsible for the allocation of resources, equipment, and subcontractors within their projects. They will monitor the project site to ensure compliance with the owner’s standards, design procedures, contract specifications and industry best practices. The main objective of the General Superintendent will be to deliver the specified work safely, within time, within budget and to the desired level of quality and workmanship.
- Coach and mentor Foreman on safety, quality, productivity, and scheduling, Ensure Foreman know and understand the plan of the day.
- Promote and adhere to company policies including the Health and Safety program.
- Research solutions with Project Managers and Project Coordinators to recommend solutions to design problems, including conflicts, and errors / omissions.
- Attend and from time-to-time lead project meetings with internal and external parties to monitor and support the project.
- Review up-to-date cost reports with Project Manager to analyze, determine solutions and correct any tasks that are not within budget.
- Participate and conduct annual performance reviews of Foreman.
- Assist with hiring and recruitment.
- Monitor Foreman responsibility to review safe work practices, procedures, and work plans.
- Responds to emergencies at the site in the event of an incident affecting site operations / security as required.
- Train Foreman to prepare and maintain work schedules.
- Must be prepared to perform other tasks when Foremen are not available including vacation relief.
- Participate in incident investigations and site inspections.
- Ensure all workers properly handle, store, and maintain assigned equipment.
- Monitor small tools and consumables procurement with Foreman's input.
- Monitor Foreman's responsibility to follow-up on Project Manager materials requisitions for site receiving.
- Review each projects quality plan with the Project Manager prior to start of work.
- Supervise your operations so there is no re-work.
- Understand the budget and complete your work at or below budget.
- Carry out disciplinary / corrective actions as per respective policy.
- Participate in manpower, supervision, and daily work instruction meetings. Monitor the assigned manpower, supervision, and daily work instruction.
- Regularly communicate work progress, schedule variance, crew, and safety performance to the Project Manager.
- Coordinate equipment resource availability. Take care of your equipment by insisting on visual checks, and scheduling maintenance. Track outside equipment rentals.
- Listen to Owner / Client concerns / requests, convey concerns to the PM, and promote solving problems.
- Monitor Foreman conducting Daily Toolbox Talks.
- Initial / Sign Job Hazard Analysis (JHA).
- Shared responsibility with Project Manager to create work plans, and sign-off work plan readiness. Plan accident-free work.
- Other responsibilities as required from a company owner
Qualifications :
- Complete understanding of civil utility and earthworks operations
- 7+ years of civil superintendent experience
- Friendly, professional, well-presented, and clear communicator
- Able to handle pressure and coordination of several tasks at once.
- A valid Driver's License is required. A drivers abstract check may be required
- Effective time management and organizational skills
- Strong technical skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project) and PDF software (Adobe / Bluebeam)
- Strong understanding of scheduling
- Negotiation and conflict management
- Be self-motivated and driven
- Ability to work night shifts if required
Compensation Package :
- Total compensation ranging from $150,000 - $220,000
