Job summary

Associated Engineering's Vancouver office is seeking an experienced Civil Technologist to join a dynamic team delivering topographic survey, drafting, design, and inspection for roads, land development, water and wastewater projects in the regional infrastructure group.

You’ll work with AutoCAD and Civil 3D, support tenders and engineering analysis, and collaborate with multi-discipline teams. The role emphasizes field surveying, data collection, and contract administration support.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology from an accredited post-secondary educational institution.
• 2+ years of relevant civil design experience.
• Experience with topographic surveys using conventional total-station and GPS-RTK survey methods is an asset.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Valid Class 7 or 5 BC Driver's License (or equivalent).
• Ability to work effectively in a team and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Provide drafting, design, figures, maps, and data analysis for civil infrastructure projects (roads, land development, water, wastewater, stormwater).
• Prepare conceptual and detailed design drawings.
• Support tender documents and engineering analyses.
• Provide field surveying and data collection.

You will join a dynamic team of engineers and technologists to provide topographic survey, construction inspection, drafting, and design for a variety of public and private section clients with a focus on roads, land development, site servicing, water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems and storm water management projects in the regional infrastructure group.

What You’ll Do

• Provide strong technical capabilities using AutoCAD and Civil 3D for drawing production and design, as well as working with survey, LiDAR and GIS datasets.
• Alongside engineers and other designers, provide drafting, design, figures, maps, and data analysis for a variety of civil infrastructure projects, including roads, land development, site servicing, water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems and storm water management systems.
• Create conceptual and preliminary designs.
• Prepare detailed design drawings.
• Support with tender documents.
• Support with engineering analysis.
• Support with technical report submissions.
• Field surveying and data collection.
• Construction inspection and assistance with contract administration.
• Coordinate and communicate with multi-discipline project teams.

Does this sound like you?

• Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology from an accredited post-secondary educational institution
• 2+ years of relevant experience in civil design
• Additional experience that includes topographic surveys using conventional (i.e. total-station) and GPS-RTK survey methods is considered an asset
• Experience in using theodolite and level
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D
• Experience in MS Word and Excel is an asset
• Experience with construction inspection is an asset
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and quality
• Valid Class 7 or 5 BC Driver's License (required)
• Ability to work within tight deadlines and schedules
