Job summary

Associated Engineering in Vancouver is seeking a Civil Technologist to join our team. You will provide drafting and design for roads, land development, site servicing, and water systems, using AutoCAD and Civil 3D, and support surveys, GIS data, and construction inspection.

The ideal candidate has a Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology and 2+ years of civil design experience, proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D, good communication, and the ability to work in a team.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology from an accredited post-secondary educational institution.
• 2+ years of civil design experience.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D; survey/GIS data experience is a plus.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide drafting and design for roads, land development, site servicing, and water distribution systems.
• Produce detailed design drawings and supporting figures and maps.
• Support tender documents and engineering analysis.

The opportunity:

Associated Engineering, a proudly Canadian, Employee-owned Company is seeking an experienced and dedicated Civil Technologist to join our team in our Vancouver office. You will join a dynamic team of engineers and technologists to provide topographic survey, construction inspection, drafting, and design for a variety of public and private section clients with a focus on roads, land development, site servicing, water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, and storm water management projects in the regional infrastructure group.

What you’ll do:

• Provide strong technical capabilities using AutoCAD and Civil 3D for drawing production and design, as well as working with survey, LiDAR and GIS datasets.
• Alongside engineers and other designers, provide drafting, design, figures, maps, and data analysis for a variety of civil infrastructure projects, including roads, land development, site servicing, water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems and storm water management systems.
• Create conceptual and preliminary designs.
• Prepare detailed design drawings.
• Support with tender documents.
• Support with engineering analysis.
• Support with technical report submissions.
• Field surveying and data collection.
• Construction inspection and assistance with contract administration.
• Coordinate and communicate with multi-discipline project teams.

Does this sound like you?

• Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology from an accredited post-secondary educational institution
• 2+ years of relevant experience in civil design
• Additional experience that includes topographic surveys using conventional (i.e. total-station) and GPS-RTK survey methods is considered an asset
• Experience in using theodolite and level
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D
• Experience in MS Word and Excel is an asset
• Experience with construction inspection is an asset
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and quality
• Valid Class 7 or 5 BC Driver's License (required)
• Ability to work within tight deadlines and schedules
