Job summary

TalentSphere Staffing Solutions Inc. is seeking a Site Superintendent (Heavy Civil Construction) for GTA, Ontario. The role oversees day-to-day field operations, leads field teams, and collaborates with Project Managers on diverse civil projects.

Ideal candidates have 7–10+ years in civil construction leadership, a strong heavy civil background, and proficiency in reading drawings, specs, and schedules. Travel across GTA project sites will be required.

Qualifications

• 7-10+ years of experience as a Civil Construction Superintendent or similar leadership role.
• Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field; P.ENG preferred.
• Strong background in heavy civil construction and field operations.
• Experience with earthworks and roadworks; bridge experience is an asset.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specs and contract documents.
• Excellent communication, organization and leadership skills.
• Willingness and ability to travel between GTA project sites.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of daily site operations from mobilization through project completion.
• Lead crews, subcontractors, equipment, materials, inspections and site activities.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, consultants, inspectors and admins to keep projects on track.
• Review drawings, specifications and schedules and translate requirements to field teams.
• Monitor production, progress, quality and schedule performance.
• Identify issues early and take action to keep work progressing.
• Coordinate inspections and address deficiencies promptly.
• Track labour, equipment rentals, materials and production.
• Document changes in scope and communicate to the Project Manager.
• Maintain accurate daily records and project documentation; promote safety.

Superintendent (Heavy Civil Construction)

The Opportunity

We have partnered with one of the GTA's premier general contractors to add a Site Superintendent to their growing team.

You will take ownership of day-to-day field operations, lead field teams, and work with Project Managers on a diverse range of complex civil infrastructure projects while also building your leadership and project delivery experience.

What You'll Be Responsible For

• Take ownership of daily site operations from mobilization through project completion.
• Lead and coordinate crews, subcontractors, equipment, materials, inspections and site activities.
• Work closely with Project Managers, consultants, inspectors, contract administrators and other stakeholders to keep projects on track.
• Review drawings, specifications and schedules and translate project requirements into clear direction for Foremen and field crews.
• Monitor production, progress, quality and schedule performance.
• Identify potential issues early and take action to keep work progressing.
• Coordinate inspections and ensure deficiencies are addressed quickly and properly.
• Track labour, equipment rentals, materials and production.
• Identify and document additional or out-of-scope work and communicate changes to the Project Manager.
• Maintain accurate daily records and project documentation.
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure employees and subcontractors are working in accordance with project and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in pre-construction, progress and coordination meetings.
• Maintain productive relationships with owners, subcontractors, consultants, inspectors and other project stakeholders.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and help improve how projects are delivered.

What You Bring

• 7-10+ years of experience as a Civil Construction Superintendent or in a comparable field leadership role.
• Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline is an asset. P.ENG certification is preferred.
• Strong background in heavy civil construction and field operations.
• Direct experience withearthworks and roadworks; bridge experience is an asset.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, equipment, scheduling, cost control, safety, and quality requirements.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Demonstrated ability to lead crews, subcontractors, and multiple site activities simultaneously.
• Strong communication, organization, and critical thinking skills.
• Comfortable working with Microsoft Office and project scheduling software.
• Ability to travel between project sites throughout the GTA.
