Job summary

TalentSphere Staffing Solutions is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager for a leading Ontario-based general contractor delivering major civil infrastructure in the GTA.

You will own assigned projects, lead meetings, manage cost, schedule, safety and client satisfaction, and collaborate with Superintendents, subcontractors, and owners to deliver projects safely, on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• 15 years of experience as a Project Manager on heavy civil projects.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field (or equivalent).
• P.Eng. designation strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead a portfolio of high-value heavy civil projects to deliver safely, efficiently and profitably.
• Develop and maintain detailed project schedules aligned with contract requirements.
• Coordinate with Superintendents, subcontractors, consultants and owners to ensure project success.
• Monitor production, progress and project performance with site teams.
• Oversee project financials, forecasting, cost controls, and billings.
• Review contract documents and change management processes.
• Identify risks and develop practical solutions to scheduling and technical challenges.

The Client

Our client is a well-established Ontario-based general contractor with decades of experience delivering major civil infrastructure projects. With a strong project pipeline and continued growth across the GTA, they are looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager to take the lead on a portfolio of high-value heavy civil projects.

The Opportunity

In this Senior Leadership position, you will take ownership of assigned projects and work closely with Superintendents, Project Coordinators, subcontractors, consultants, owners and other stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and profitably.

What You’ll Do

• Take overall responsibility for project performance, including cost, schedule, quality, safety and client satisfaction.
• Review contract documents, drawings, specifications and project requirements before mobilization.
• Develop, maintain and adjust detailed project schedules based on contract requirements and actual progress.
• Lead pre-construction, progress and stakeholder meetings while maintaining strong communication with project partners.
• Work closely with Site Superintendents to monitor production, progress and project performance.
• Manage project financials, forecasting, cost controls, progress billings and overall financial performance.
• Review and approve subcontractor and supplier payment applications.
• Oversee project documentation, submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, change management and other contract requirements.
• Identify project risks and work with the construction team to develop practical solutions to technical and scheduling challenges.

What You Bring

• 15 years of experience as a Project Manager working on complex heavy civil construction projects.
• Strong background in earthworks, road works or bridge construction.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
• P.Eng. designation is strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of construction contracts, project controls, scheduling, cost management and change management.
• Experience with design-build, alternative procurement or other non-traditional delivery models is an asset.
