Job summary

Hatch is seeking a Civil Engineering Student to join our Infrastructure, Rail team in Vancouver, BC. You will work on major railway projects, producing drawings from concept to detail and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in a hands-on office environment.

Ideal candidates are currently enrolled in a Civil Engineering degree or diploma, with knowledge of engineering codes and proficient in Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Civil Engineering degree or diploma at an accredited university or college.
  • Knowledge of current technical engineering codes and practices.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Responsibilities

  • Produce all levels of drawings from concept to detailed design.
  • Collaborate in multidisciplinary design teams to develop functional designs in accordance with regulations, laws, and design standards.
  • Maintain high-quality standards through quality control processes.

As the successful candidate, you will:
  • Produce all levels of drawings from concept to detailed design
  • Collaborate in multidisciplinary design teams to develop functional designs in accordance with regulations, laws, and design standards
  • Maintain high-quality standards through quality control processes
You bring to the role:
  • Currently enrolled in a Civil Engineering Degree or Diploma at an accredited University or College.
  • Knowledge of current technical engineering codes and practices.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook).
  • Problem solving skills and analytical.
Competencies (knowledge, skill, attributes):
  • Proficiency in Civil 3D is considered an asset
  • Ability to deal with competing priorities and manage time appropriately
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Shows critical and creative thinking, problem solving, and brings forward solutions for our clients' toughest challenges

Candidates are expected to work from Hatch’s downtown Vancouver office full time for the duration of the work term. This position is available for a 4-month or 8-month work term starting January 2027.

Compensation:

Range: $26.00 - $34.00

At Hatch, we are committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. In accordance with legislated pay transparency requirements, the expected salary range for this position is based on current market data and aligned with internal pay structures to ensure consistency and fairness.

Your individual compensation within this range will depend on factors such as skills, experience, qualifications and location. In addition to base pay, our total rewards package may include performance-based incentives, comprehensive benefits, and other programs designed to support your well-being and growth.
