Job summary

Onni Group in Vancouver is seeking a Civil Pipelayer to install underground utility systems including storm sewer, sanitary sewer, and watermain infrastructure. You will lay pipe, fittings, and services to exact line and grade while preparing trench bottoms and ensuring a safe, compliant workspace.

Required 3+ years’ experience, ability to read drawings, and knowledge of PVC/HDPE/ductile iron/concrete. Deep utilities experience is a bonus; salary range is CAD 36–50 per hour, with a strong

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a Civil Pipelayer.
• Strong experience with storm, sanitary, and watermain installation.
• Ability to read and understand civil construction drawings.
• Knowledge of pipe materials (PVC, HDPE, ductile iron, concrete).
• Understanding of trench safety, bedding requirements, and compaction.

Responsibilities

• Install storm sewer, sanitary sewer, and watermain systems per drawings and specs.
• Lay pipe, fittings, valves, and services to proper line and grade.
• Prepare trench bottoms with bedding, grading, and compaction.
• Work safely around excavations, shoring systems, and trench boxes.
• Assist with pipe laser setup and grade checking.
• Connect services, manholes, catch basins, hydrants and chambers.
• Coordinate with operators, foremen, and laborers.
• Follow locates and protect existing underground services.
• Ensure installations meet municipal and project quality standards.
• Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas.
• Comply with safety regulations and site plans.
