Job summary

Onni in Vancouver is seeking a Civil Skilled Labourer to support underground utilities, roadworks, and site development. This hands-on role works with operators, pipelayers, and forepersons to ensure work is completed safely and efficiently.

You will perform trench prep, pipe bedding, manhole and hydrant work, and assist with compaction, grading, and site cleanup, following Canadian safety regulations and OH&S standards.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of civil construction or underground utilities experience.
• Knowledge of civil construction tools, equipment, and materials.
• Ability to work safely in trenches and around heavy equipment.
• Ability to read basic construction drawings (asset).

Responsibilities

• Assist with installation of underground utilities (storm, sanitary, water).
• Perform trench prep, bedding, and backfilling.
• Install and adjust pipe bedding materials and assist pipe placement.
• Support installation of manholes, catch basins, services, hydrants, and valves.
• Perform hand excavation around existing utilities.
• Assist with compaction, grading, site cleanup.
• Spot and guide heavy equipment and traffic as required.
• Follow utility locates and protect existing underground infrastructure.
• Maintain clean, safe, organized work areas.
• Adhere to OH&S regulations and site safety plans.
• Participate in toolbox talks and hazard assessments.
• Overtime and flexible hours may be required based on project schedules.
