Job summary

Cambrian College’s School of Engineering Technology has an immediate requirement for a Full-Time Civil/Mining Technologist starting December 2026. The role reports to the Chair and collaborates with coordinators to supervise labs and support student projects.

The incumbent will maintain and oversee lab facilities, assist faculty in equipment procedures, and coordinate with professors on student progress while ensuring safety and efficiency in all lab activities.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a three-year diploma/degree in Civil or Mining Engineering Technology; WES/ICAS acceptable for non-Canadian credentials.
• Minimum of three years’ work experience using and maintaining mining, geology, civil engineering, surveying equipment and related lab gear.
• Self-directed with ability to balance multiple tasks amid interruptions; strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in Word and Excel; ability to learn new software and technologies.

Responsibilities

• Plan, supervise, organize, and maintain shop/lab facilities safely and efficiently.
• Collaborate with faculty to design, modify, acquire, and install lab procedures.
• Assist and guide students in the shop/lab; monitor and oversee lab areas during projects.
• Maintain, repair, log, and dispense equipment.
• Coordinate with course professors on student performance and lab progress.
• Explain procedures, demonstrate skills, and coach students in the academic setting.
• Attend faculty meetings to provide input on lab experiences and effectiveness.
• Prepare responses including reports, research, and new initiatives.
