Job summary

Onni is seeking a Civil Underground Utility Foreman to lead crews delivering water, sewer, and storm infrastructure. You will supervise daily activities, interpret drawings, and coordinate with project stakeholders to meet safety, quality, and schedule targets.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in civil underground utilities, foreman experience, and strong leadership with excellent communication. This on-site role offers growth opportunities and adherence to high standards.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in civil underground utility construction.
• Proven experience in a Foreman or lead hand role.
• Ability to read and interpret civil construction drawings.
• Knowledge of trench safety and excavation regulations.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily activities of underground utility crews (operators, pipelayers, laborers).
• Plan, organize, and execute work related to watermain, sanitary, storm, and service installations.
• Read and interpret construction drawings, specs, and utility locates.
• Ensure health and safety compliance with regulations and site plans.
• Coordinate with project management, inspectors, engineers, and utility authorities.
• Ensure proper shoring, trench safety, and dewatering practices.
• Manage productivity, manpower, equipment, and materials on site.
• Conduct daily toolbox talks and enforce safe work practices.
• Monitor quality control to meet municipal and project standards.
• Complete daily reports, time tracking, and as-built documentation.
• Identify and resolve site issues and constructability challenges.
• Train, mentor, and evaluate crew members.

About the role

About you

• 5+ years of experience in civil underground utility construction
• Proven experience in a Foreman or lead hand role
• Strong knowledge of underground utility installation methods and materials
• Ability to read and interpret civil construction drawings
• Knowledge of trench safety, shoring systems, and excavation regulations
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to work under pressure and meet project schedules
• Valid driver’s license
• First Aid, WHMIS, and relevant safety certifications (asset)

Work Environment

• Outdoor construction sites in varying weather conditions
• Physically demanding work environment
• May require extended hours to meet project deadlines

Salary Range

$40-55/hour
