Job summary

Stantec in Markham is seeking a Civil Field Inspector to join our Community Development team. In this on-site role, you will observe construction, document conditions, and verify conformance with contract documents. You will lead site inspections, monitor progress, prepare daily and weekly reports, and coordinate with the project team and client.

Travel within Markham and surrounding areas is required. This position offers the chance to contribute to diverse projects and mentor less experienced

Responsibilities

• Lead on-site observation to record as-constructed conditions and verify conformance with contract documents.
• Identify and document site challenges; communicate with Project Team to resolve promptly.
• Maintain daily photo records and archive documentation.
• Conduct quantity surveying, progress monitoring, and prepare daily/weekly reports.
• Lead on-site progress review meetings and document actions.
• Lead construction progress payment reviews and track change orders for out-of-scope work.
• Serve as main on-site contact for Contractor and Client.
• Review RFIs, submittals, schedules, shop drawings and pay applications.
• Prepare red‑lined as‑built drawings.
• Train and mentor less experienced staff on procedures, standards and software.
• Travel within Markham and surrounding area will be required.
