Job summary

Stantec's Calgary office is seeking a Civil EIT to evaluate, specify, and engineer systems for municipal water projects. You will support senior engineers with routine design tasks, calculations, field work, and meetings.

You will join a team focused on water infrastructure, site civil, conveyance, and water resources projects, with opportunities to contribute to reports and design briefs. This entry-level role emphasizes learning and client relations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, civil emphasis, from an accredited university.
• Registered with APEGA as an EIT.
• Co-op/Internship experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• This role will be supporting multi-disciplinary municipal civil projects, related to new build and infrastructure renewal.
• Detailed studies and design tasks for water related projects including site civil, conveyance and water resources.
• Writing reports and design briefs.
• Ensuring quality of written, technical, and graphic work and completing tasks on time and on budget.
• Coordinating design drawings and specification development.
• Attending internal, client and contractor meetings and documenting minutes.
• Contract administration as required for a variety of construction projects.

Your Opportunity

Our Calgary office has an opportunity for a Civil EIT. You should be able to evaluate, select, specify, and engineer systems or products for a project. You will perform a variety of tasks which may include calculations, field work, coordination of simple tasks, and meeting attendance and recording. The smaller projects that an entry level civil engineer may be assigned to will have relatively few complex features. In general, an entry level civil engineer will assist more senior engineers/designers by performing the routine aspects of civil engineering assignments.

• A strong knowledge of municipal infrastructure design and construction will be considered an asset.

• Previous experience working with municipalities will be considered an asset.

• Working knowledge of various software for planning and design of facilities (AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D/Pipe Networks, ArcView GIS) will be considered an asset.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, with a background in Civil Engineering (preferably in the water and wastewater discipline), from an accredited university.

• Registered with APEGA as an EIT.

• Related Co-op/Internship experience preferred.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
