Job description

Civil Engineer

Our Technology team wakes up every day with one goal in mind - connecting Canadians to the people and things that matter most. Together, we are proud to support 30 million Canadians each month through managing a robust portfolio that champions leading-edge technology. We drive large-scale, complex, and high-visibility technology projects and programs that shape the future of technology in Canada and expand connectivity from coast to coast. If you are interested in being a part of this, consider applying for the following opportunity.

Who we’re looking for:

We are excited to help build a great digital future for Canadians, and we are looking for creative thinkers, problem solvers, and motivated individuals to help us deliver on our commitments. As a Civil Engineering Specialist, you bring experience across a wide variety of projects in the telecommunications industry and have a passion for problem-solving and creative solutions. If the following appeals to you, we want to hear from you.

What you’ll do:
  • Review technical scope documents, including FCDs (Final Cell Designs), Civil Subs, Microwave Designs, and other EDSs (Engineering Design Specifications), ensuring alignment with project requirements and Rogers' standards.
  • Define the scope by selecting an EOR (Engineer of Record), requesting engineering and quotes (RFQs), reviewing quotes and budgets, and submitting them for PO issuance through the Rogers Project Coordinator.
  • Review the most recent site visit and audit reports. Request new audit reports from the civil design contractor when required and review assessment reports for rooftop sites.
  • Analyze Structural Tower Assessment (STA) reports for tower sites. Initiate rework and re-analysis when structural loading requirements are not met. Coordinate design updates and quote requests from civil design contractors and facilitate PO issuance.
  • Provide technical guidance, engineering expertise, and solution-oriented support to civil designers, consultants, and Engineers of Record (EORs) throughout the design lifecycle.
  • Perform engineering governance and quality oversight of civil designs, calculations, and drawings to ensure compliance with CSA S37, Rogers National Standards, applicable codes, design guidelines, project requirements, and engineering best practices.
  • Review, manage, and validate all civil engineering artifacts and project documentation to ensure deliverables are complete, accurate, compliant, deposited in Rogers SharePoint, and aligned with Rogers standards, governance requirements, and project objectives.
  • Review and approve engineering designs and drawings, ensuring they are complete, constructible, and appropriately stamped and authorized by a Professional Engineer.
  • Perform quality checks by verifying the completeness of CWO/CDP (Civil Work Order/Construction Design Package) packages, ensuring they align with Rogers' standards, processes, and guidance.
  • Facilitate internal stakeholder reviews and approvals with teams such as Real Estate, RF Engineering, and Network Implementation, as well as external stakeholders including landlords, consultants, and contractors.
  • Compile engineering documentation, including drawings, reports, calculations, approvals, and supporting documentation into complete CWO/CDP packages.
  • Issue and distribute new CWO/CDP documents. Update CWO/CDP packages as required and distribute deliverables through Rogers' internal systems.
  • Maintain project management tools and trackers, including SharePoint, ADM, and other project reporting systems.
  • Respond to queries regarding CWO/CDP drawing and material issues, address Network Implementation construction questions, and resolve Real Estate and landlord design-related concerns.
  • Accept completed work through OLR (Online Receiving) in Rogers' internal systems.
  • Review and initiate As-Built and PCI (Pre-Construction Information) reports, coordinating deficiency corrections with construction teams and ensuring final documentation compliance.
  • Attend meetings and calls with Network Implementation (NI), Real Estate (RE), Engineers of Record (EORs), consultants, and project stakeholders to review project plans, provide engineering guidance, resolve technical issues, and communicate project timelines and deliverables.
  • Support wireless network expansion, modernization, microwave, co-location, and strategic infrastructure projects across Canada.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of civil engineering standards, governance processes, design guidelines, tools, and best practices to improve quality, efficiency, and consistency.
  • Perform other duties as required, consistent with the principal objectives of the position.
What you bring:
