Job summary

Midwest in Calgary is seeking an experienced Civil Designer to join our employee‑owned surveying and geomatics firm. You will prepare grading designs, as‑built and 3D models using AutoCAD Civil 3D on Windows, and collaborate with clients and colleagues to deliver accurate drawings.

Ideal candidates have a diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or geomatics and 2–5 years in surveying/oil & gas. Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS, and terrestrial scanning software is preferred.

Qualifications

• A diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or Geomatics.
• 5+ years in AutoCAD Civil 3D earthworks design is preferred.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Global Mapper and terrestrial scanning software is advantageous.
• 2–5 years experience in the survey industry, oil and gas, or municipal drafting.

Responsibilities

• Producing accurate and detailed drafting products using AutoCAD Civil 3D and other modelling programs.
• Analysis and creation of surfaces with spatial data such as Lidar and terrestrial scanning.
• Prepare site grading, road, pipeline corridor and pad facility designs.
• Prepare As-built plans and compare site designs with as-builts.
• Calculate earthwork volumes and understand survey plan content.
• Coordinate with internal/external clients to deliver quality drawings.

We are currently looking for an experienced Civil Designer, in our Calgary location. Summary Of Responsibilities

Working under the direct supervision of the Drafting Manager, you will be responsible for preparing grading designs, as-built and 3D models using GIS/CAD software on Windows platform stations. Your duties will include and are not limited to:

• Producing accurate and detailed drafting products using AutoCAD Civil 3D and other related modelling programs
• Analysis and creation of surfaces with the use of spatial data such as Lidar, Terrestrial Scanner and other survey formats
• Prepare site grading, road, pipeline corridor and pad facility designs
• Prepare As-built plans
• Compare site designs with as-builts
• Calculate earthwork volumes
• Understanding survey plan content
• Understanding layers, line types and individual client requirements
• Using multiple communication tools, interacting regularly with internal and external clients to deliver optimal product

What You Offer

The successful candidate will have:

• A diploma in Civil Engineering Technology / Geomaticsor 5+ years of experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D earthworks design.
• Highly proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D, global mapper and terrestrial scanning software used for modelling oil and gas facilities is considered an asset.
• 2-5 years experience in the survey industry, oil and gas, or the municipal drafting industry is preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and projects
