Job summary

Knappett Industries in the Comox Valley, BC, is seeking a Civil Construction Pipe Layer to join our experienced team. You will follow safety protocols, cut and align pipes, lay out routes, and install sanitary and storm sewer systems on ongoing projects.

Applicants should have 3+ years’ pipe laying experience, be able to work outside year-round, and hold a valid provincial driver’s license. We offer competitive pay and comprehensive benefits including healthcare, dental, RRSP and time off.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety protocols and contribute to safety program.

• Read plans and coordinate layouts with supervisor.
• Check slopes and elevations with levels or lasers.

Responsibilities

• Follow all safety protocols and contribute to the success of the safety program
• Cut pipes to required lengths
• Align and position pipes to prepare them for fusing
• Connect pipe pieces and seal joints using provided material
• Install sanitary and storm water sewer structures and pipe systems
• Lay out pipe routes, following specifications or blueprints, and coordinating layouts with supervisor
• Check slopes for conformance to requirements, using levels or lasers

Requirements

• Mathematical ability to calculate grades slopes, etc.
• Ability to read and interpret plans and specification.
• 3+ years’ experience pipe laying in civil construction
• Professional demeanour when dealing with the public
• Able to work outside in all-weather at all times of the year
• Able to do extensive physical labour
• Valid provincial driver’s license

Assets

• Recent working experience in similar role
• First aid training

This position is compensated at an hourly rate. Employees are eligible for enrollment in our company benefits package following successful completion of a three month probationary period.
