Job description

About Ballina Contracting

Ballina Contracting is an established civil construction, site development, and traffic management provider with deep local roots in British Columbia. Headquartered in the Fraser Valley, we deliver projects specializing in municipal and transportation infrastructure and site works that keep communities moving safely and efficiently.

The Opportunity

We're seeking a Pipelayer to join our team in the Okanagan, supporting civil construction projects across the region. As a Pipelayer, you’ll work alongside a skilled crew in the field to deliver high-quality work. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys building their skills, working outdoors, and being part of projects that shape communities. Although we are a union‑affiliated organization, being an active member is not a prerequisite.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Perform all work safely in line with company policies and WorkSafeBC standards.
  • Complete jobs to the required specifications and quality standards.
  • Keep all tools and equipment clean, maintained, and in good working condition.
  • Rig and hoist pipe sections safely, ensuring proper securing and support.
  • Install various pipe systems, including water mains, sanitary sewers, storm drains, etc.
  • Assist in trench preparation and grading—both manual labor and in coordination with equipment operators.
  • Install and assemble manholes and catch basins.
  • Work independently and within a team, taking ownership of tasks without constant supervision.
  • Maintain a clean and safe worksite at all times.
  • Attend and actively participate in daily and weekly site meetings.
Your Qualifications & Skills
  • 1-3 years Civil Construction experience.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Comfortable working around heavy equipment.
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Proven ability to work effectively and safely in a team environment.
  • Strong time management and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and adapt to changing project demands.
  • Excellent punctuality and attendance.
  • Valid Canadian driver’s license with a clean abstract required.
  • First Aid Training an asset.

Here, you’ll have opportunities to learn from industry experts, grow your skills, and make a lasting impact across a diverse range of projects.

  • Union hourly rate: $39.29–$41.29 per hour.
  • Union benefits package.
  • Training and career development opportunities.
  • Annual safety recognition and employee appreciation programs.
