Job summary

Haida Nation in Skidegate, Haida Gwaii, is hiring a Citizenship Program Manager to oversee the Citizenship program and related processes. You will work with Ḵuljaad G̱aa.nga Citizenship Table, Hereditary Chiefs and Haida Citizens to develop the program, plan meetings, draft clan trees, register citizens, and maintain census data and digital records.

The role requires strong project management, excellent communication, and knowledge of Haida culture and governance.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary research training is an asset, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Excellent project management and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and proficient with computers.
  • Knowledge of Haida culture, politics, language, governance, and social structures with a keen interest in Haida Politics.
  • Proven attention to detail and respect for confidentiality.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise staff and work collaboratively with Committees and staff to plan and execute a Haida Citizen registry.
  • Develop and implement a process for tracking, updating and registering citizens accurately to clan trees and citizenship databases.
  • Assist with clan meetings in G̲aw Tlagee, HlG̲aagilda, Prince Rupert and Vancouver as assigned to review and ensure information is accurate, timely and up to date for the clan trees.
  • Report regularly to the Ḵuljaad G̱aa.nga Citizenship Table as required
  • Work with staff to support engagement with Haida communities and citizens in Citizenship-related work as needed;
  • Maintain timely written and verbal reports as requested
  • Coordinate and deliver a complete Haida Census every 5 years beginning in 2026
  • Supervision and training of Citizenship program staff
  • Collaborate with incorporation of Haida Culture into program

About the Role

The Citizenship Program Manager oversees the Citizenship program and processes related to citizenship. They work with Ḵuljaad G̱aa.nga Citizenship Table, Hereditary Chiefs and Haida Citizens to develop the Citizenship program for the Nation. They plan, schedule, attend meetings, draft clan trees, register citizens, and respond on citizenship matters. The citizenship program will be responsible for conducting and maintaining data of a Haida census. They ensure the maintenance of all clan tree files and digital records and the approved application of the Citizenship Act, the Constitution of the Haida Nation, and other applicable laws and procedures are applied correctly.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Hourly rate: $39.18 - $44.05based on experience.
