Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a Kettle Coordinator II to oversee multiple Christmas Kettle locations within a designated zone. The role is a short-term contract position reporting to the Corps Officer, with responsibilities for volunteer supervision, kettle placement, and secure donation handling.

You will train with the team, coordinate shift coverage, manage daily communications, and ensure accurate timesheets and mileage reports.

Responsibilities

• Attend training/orientation on The Salvation Army and the Christmas Kettle Campaign.
• Support kettles’ setup at zone locations prior to volunteer arrival.
• Ensure donations are secured at end of shift and reported.
• Supervise and support kettle volunteers throughout the campaign.
• Recruit volunteers and coordinate shift coverage as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism with donors and volunteers.

Job Description: POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY

The Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign is part of a century old tradition to contribute towards building strong communities by helping TSA to give hope to other. Kettle Coordinator II position is a short-term contract position. The incumbent is responsible for oversight of several Christmas Kettle locations in a given geographical zone area. Zone locations include shopping malls, grocery stores and retail outlets.

Accountabilities

• Attend a day of training/orientation on The Salvation Army and the Christmas Kettle Campaign
• Provide support in getting Kettles to zone locations prior to volunteer arrival at Campaign onset
• Ensure all Kettle donations are delivered to secure location at shift completion
• Communicate daily issues and supply deficiencies to City/Assistant Coordinator
• Orient and remind volunteers on proper Kettle handling and duties as required
• Supervise, support and assign (as required) Kettle Volunteers throughout the Campaign
• Participate in the recruitment of new volunteers
• Visit locations during shift changes and intermittently
• Communicate daily with ATL partner for effective transition
• Ensure timesheets and mileage reports are submitted accurately and timely (weekly basis)
• Remain at the Kettle for the full shift (until relieved), ensuring security of donations received.
• Respond to questions/queries from potential donors regarding SA ministries and programs.
• Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Managerial/Technical Responsibilities

Reports directly to the Corps Officer. Direct reports: none. Workflow coordinator.

Financial and Material Management

• Collect donations and petite cash and ensure donations are always kept secure.

Working Conditions

• This is a temporary position.
• Shifts may include days, afternoons, evenings, weekend shifts, and split shifts, Monday through Saturday. Applicable shifts include a ½ hour unpaid meal break.
• Flexibility in scheduling is required, as the hours may increase as per operational requirements.
• Work environment is typically in malls/stores
• Standing for long periods will be required and exposure to cold weather
• Required to wear appropriate Salvation Army identification.
• Local travel is associated with this position, using a program vehicle may be necessary. Must be comfortable driving at night and in winter conditions.

Education, Experience and Qualifications

• Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
• Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures.
• Alternative combination of education and Experience may be considered. Education, Qualifications and Certifications: Some high school coursework, completion of high school is an asset
• One year of related experience or working in customer service
• Money handling experience is an asset
• Related experience is an asset
• Valid G driver’s license and a reliable vehicle required and insurance, current copy of driver’s abstract for review and verification that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required.

Compensation

The target hiring range for this position is $17.60 to $21.84 with a maximum of $26.20. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
