Job summary

Linck Child, Youth & Family Supports in Ontario seeks a contract Children’s Services Worker to deliver protective and preventive services under the Child Youth and Family Services Act. Qualifications

  • Four-year Honours BA; BSW preferred; Indigenous degree an asset.
  • Pathway to Authorization and/or Authorized worker preferred.
  • 1–3 years experience in child welfare preferred.
  • Knowledge of CYFSA and licensing standards essential.
  • Strong assessment and casework skills; cultural competency.

Responsibilities

  • Provide protective and preventative services under CYFSA for families and children.
  • Assume complete case management for adoption and children’s services caseload.
  • Assess child functioning and provide therapeutic intervention to children.
  • Prepare reports and documents for internal and external use; liaise with courts as needed.

Job description

Linck Child, Youth & Family Supports(“Linck”)requires one (1) Children’s Services Worker. This is a contract, full-time (70 hours bi-weekly) position lasting for a period of one (1) year.

The worker will provide protective and preventative service as mandated under the Child Youth and Family Services Act to families and children; assume complete case management responsibility for a combined adoption and children’s services caseload; assess child functioning; provide therapeutic intervention to children; provide protective services to children which includes: ensuring all of the child’s needs and rights are met; participating as required in Ontario Court of Justice matters pertaining to child protection or youth justice issues; preparing reports, correspondence and documents for internal and external use; providing a variety of services related to adoption.

Qualifications
  • Four-year Honours Bachelors degree (BA); Bachelor of Social Work degree (BSW) preferred; Indigenous degree would be considered an asset
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have completed the Child Welfare Pathway to Authorization Series and/or are Authorized workers.
  • Over one year and up to and including three years experience in child welfare preferred.
  • Knowledge of the Differential Response Model for Child Protection in Ontario.
  • The Child, Youth and Family Services Act; Ministry standards and guidelines in the area of Children in Care and Licensing Standards, and Adoption Services is essential.
  • Knowledge of Signs of Safety Framework of client engagement.
  • Strong knowledge of community resources.
  • An understanding of social casework principles as they relate to service delivery to children, adolescents and families in both an individual and group format.
  • Strong assessment skills in order to assess clients needs, formulate plans of service and monitor/evaluate progress.
  • Preference will be given to persons with a strong understanding and extensive experience working with other cultures, heritages and traditions;
  • A commitment to developing the highest quality culturally-appropriate service possible for the various communities that we serve.
  • Computer and keyboarding skills.
  • The ability to communicate in French is an asset; and
  • A valid driver’s license and use of a reliable personal vehicle.
