About Us: Hearts in Bloom Academy, a Christian educational daycare and pre-school for aspiring learners located in Mississauga, is seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated, and professional Assistant Supervisor. At Hearts in Bloom, we embrace an emergent curriculum approach, inspiring children to grow through meaningful experiences and dynamic educational environments.


Position Overview: As our Assistant Supervisor, you will be the lead support to the Supervisor in providing support and guidance to our passionate team of educators. You will take on a leadership role, ensuring high-quality care, compliance with regulatory standards, and the maintenance of a nurturing, respectful, and engaging atmosphere for children, families, and staff. This role combines classroom leadership with operational management, offering a dynamic environment where you can make a real impact.


Key Responsibilities

Classroom Leadership:
  1. Act as a Lead Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) in a classroom.
  2. Plan and facilitate educational activities, storytelling, songs, artistic expression, and excursions within the community.
  3. Maintain a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment for children.
  4. Assist and guide children in personal care routines (eating, dressing, toileting habits).
Program Development & Parent Engagement:
  1. Implement emergent curriculum-based programs that support children's physical, cognitive, emotional, and social growth.
  2. Manage enrolment processes and parent inquiries professionally and empathetically.
  3. Oversee bi-weekly billing, fee subsidies, attendance tracking, and accurate maintenance of children’s records.
  4. Regularly communicate with parents, providing support, guidance, and resources on child development and centre-related news and issues.
Staff Leadership:
  1. Supervising staff attendance, scheduling, and payroll processes.
  2. Supporting hiring, onboarding, mentoring, and professional development of team members.
  3. Providing regular feedback, coaching, and setting performance goals with educators.
  4. Organizing and facilitating team meetings and training sessions.
Centre Operations:
  1. Fulfill the Supervisor's role in their absence, ensuring seamless operations.
  2. Prepare and deliver reports as required.
  3. Ensure compliance with licensing standards, health and safety guidelines, and internal policies.
Qualifications & Experience:
  1. Diploma or Degree in Early Childhood Education (or equivalent).
  2. Minimum five (5) years’ experience as a Registered Early Childhood Educator.
  3. Proven leadership experience in an integrated childcare setting.
  4. Familiarity with ELECT Framework and "How Does Learning Happen?"
  5. Proficiency in MS Office and childcare management software (experience with Lillio is an asset).
Certifications & Conditions:
  1. Valid First Aid and Infant/Child CPR certification.
  2. Registered member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
  3. Current Vulnerable Sector Police Check (renewable every five years).
  4. Strong knowledge of the Child Care & Early Years Act (CCEYA).

  2. Ability to effectively manage difficult situations with sensitivity and professionalism.
  3. Flexibility to work varied shifts and participate in after-hours meetings/events.
