This opportunity is ideal for an Early Childhood Educator who enjoys working directly with children while taking on leadership responsibilities and supporting fellow educators in delivering high-quality childcare programs.

Reporting to the Childcare Centre Manager, the On-Floor Supervisor plays an important role in supporting daily centre operations, providing guidance to educators, maintaining required staff-to-child ratios, and ensuring safe, consistent, and engaging classroom practices.

This is a hands-on leadership role that combines regular classroom coverage with responsibilities related to licensing, health and safety, attendance, and documentation.

Key Responsibilities
On-Floor Leadership and Program Support
  • Maintain a consistent leadership presence on the childcare program floor.

  • Provide day-to-day guidance, practical coaching, and support to educators.

  • Respond to emerging classroom, staffing, and program needs.

  • Work directly in staff-to-child ratio and provide classroom coverage for educator breaks, planning time, documentation time, and other operational needs.

  • Support consistent supervision practices and high-quality childcare programming.

  • Assume designated Centre Manager responsibilities during the Centre Manager's absence, including responding to operational, staffing, safety, and family matters.

  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and welcoming environment for children, families, and employees.

Safety and Compliance
  • Coordinate and conduct monthly fire drills in accordance with licensing requirements and YMCA safety procedures.

  • Support the implementation of health, safety, supervision, and emergency procedures throughout the centre.

  • Monitor required safety documentation and ensure records are current and accessible.

  • Identify and communicate health, safety, and operational concerns to the Centre Manager.

  • Support compliance with Saskatchewan childcare licensing requirements, YMCA policies, and child safeguarding standards.

  • Promote a culture of child safety by modelling appropriate professional boundaries, recognizing and reporting safeguarding concerns, and following established reporting procedures.

Licensing and Documentation
  • Maintain Ministry attendance records and ensure required parent or caregiver signatures are collected.

  • Review classroom documentation for completeness and accuracy.

  • Ensure regulatory and program records are current, organized, and maintained appropriately.

  • Assist with preparation for licensing visits and inspections.

  • Support educators in completing required classroom and regulatory documentation.

Classroom and Administrative Support
  • Prepare and distribute classroom materials, including sign-in sheets, diapering records, cleaning logs, allergy lists, and other required documentation.

  • Support attendance tracking, record keeping, and consistent documentation practices across classrooms.

  • Assist the Centre Manager with daily operational and administrative tasks.

Team Support
  • Build respectful and collaborative relationships with educators and other centre employees.

  • Support effective communication between classrooms and centre leadership.

  • Reinforce YMCA policies, procedures, and expectations.

  • Model YMCA values and contribute to a supportive and accountable workplace culture.

  • Take on additional on-floor responsibilities as needed to support safe and effective centre operations.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will bring:

  • Early Childhood Educator certification recognized in Saskatchewan (ECE Level I, II, or III).

  • Previous experience working in a licensed childcare environment.

  • Knowledge of Saskatchewan childcare licensing requirements and health and safety standards.

  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to provide guidance, encouragement, and practical support to educators.

  • Ability to develop positive working relationships with children, families, colleagues, and supervisors.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy childcare environment.

  • Willingness and ability to work directly in classrooms and provide regular staff-to-child ratio coverage.

  • Current First Aid and CPR-C certification, or willingness to obtain prior to commencing work.

  • A satisfactory Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Search, in accordance with YMCA requirements.

  • Completion of required YMCA child safeguarding training.

Previous leadership, supervisory, or senior educator experience in a licensed childcare setting is considered an asset.

Working Conditions
  • Full-time, temporary position providing maternity leave coverage at Aspen Ridge Childcare Centre.

  • Monday to Friday, with flexibility required to meet centre operational needs.

  • On-site, hands-on position, with the majority of time spent supporting childcare operations on the program floor.
